Operating since 1992.  Informing Our Children has come a long way. Starting in 1992 on the porch of now Dr. Doreen Berts, author of thirteen books and nominee of several awards. She has been named the life changer, by the youth she's mentored in programming. Being a mother of eight she always had a passion to see children do more according to the families on her street as a teen She kept all the youth active.  Whatever she learned she would come and teach them. She states "Children don't stop you; you stop yourself which is her motto. 

 Dr. Berts, left the Cleveland Police Department to continue the growth of Informing Our Children, Inc.  From 1995 until 2005 she coordinated youth in engagements that would empower them to become strong adults.  Each reaching their goals. The I.O.C. Inspirational Cheerleaders were known for their outreach. They were taught to build physical fitness in body as well as mind. They learned lessons for life. Their curriculum is used today for the Moving Forward program. ​The Life Obstacles Team is the executive team of Informing Our Children, Inc. who comes from behind the desk to perform outreach.  The team was on the radio for eight years as radio personality of the Life Obstacles broadcast Host and Co-host of WERE Life Obstacles 1490 am.  They broadcast live every Saturday from 2-3 pm est. the live broadcast ended December 2023.   The team will continue to carry out the mission with or without a grant. They are dedicated to change.  Purpose drives them to do more.  J.R. Washington is the lead facilitator of Healthy Jumping. Dr. Doreen Berts & Gerri Knight are the lead facilitators of Moving Forward.  Each bringing their Life Obstacles to the table to show you can overcome.  Kathryn Worship is known as Life because her past obstacles bring shivers down the spine of children and adults. When she shares her journey, you will know why the team named her life.  Current Programs: Moving Forward has met success. The Life Obstacles team teaches youth how to sink and then swim. in 2018 and 2019 they had a 100% graduation rate.  They were applauded for their outreach and efforts to keep youth engaged.  Dr. Berts is known to come to your home if you miss her class.  Ask youth Christian Basie and Shalicia Sankey those two will have you in tears on how they thought they were cutting. Never again they both stated.  Today Christian Basie is a strong business women and Shalcia Sankey works for the Federal Government.  Both speak on the power of an amazing mentor.  Informing Our Children Inc. is known to help youth in discovering themselves.  Living their life through their own eyes.
